Mother's Ramblings

This was a big weekend. We got Nancy and Matt moved into their new house. It is going to be a very nice home for them. Yesterday we celebrated Danny and Maretta's first anniversary and thought about their fun wedding one year ago. We had much better weather last year. You picked the right year to get married. Dad mowed our lawn on Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday it was snowy rain. Today Monday we woke up to three inches of snow. Last night Dad and I went to the stake center for a special meeting to re-align the wards in our stakes. Our ward really took a hit. I can't believe all the streets they took out. We barley managed to stay in the ward. It will really be a different ward and one that you will hardly know. They came up Flimingo and took both sides of the street and everything north over to Milo. So both sides of Milo and Flimingo are in the 18th ward. Then they put back the part of Aix La Chapelle that has been in our ward to the 4th ward. (you really didn't know any of those people). Then they came along Wander Lane and took the east side taking Florabundia and Sleepy Hollow. We are the only circle left in the ward. They gave us back all the people they took from us up on Wallace and up to the freeway. So the Paulsens and the Thackerays are back in our ward. I guess the problem was that the 25th and 18th wards were struggling with small primaries and YM YW. We really don't have that large of a primary or YM YW either. It seems like our ward always gets punished for doing well. Anyway it won't be hard on us but I know there were some tears over there last night. I know the Stake Presidency thought about this long and hard and so we need to give them our support. Thought you all would be interested in knowing what happened to the old 28th ward. This Wednesday I leave for NY with Jane, Jacque, and Penelope. It will be fun to see Diane. I am staying and extra night (Sunday) with Di and then I head down to Savannah where I will meet Aunt Elaine. We will drive over to Hilton Head and Stu and Grant will drive down and meet us there. The will be coming from Agusta, Ga. and the Mastes Tournament. It will be an exciting trip. Maybe Diane and I will post some pictures from New York. Love, Mom
